Message: GREAT START TO THE SEASON.........
What a great weekend to kick off the new season!! A new look 1st XV made the journey to Reading and came away with a fantastic 15-13 win. I watched most of a very enjoyable friendly between our 2nd XV and Princes Risborough 1st XV - we might have lost the game, but we could win the war - but nearly 30 players were used during the afternoon with several new youngsters showing great promise. The atmosphere at the club on Saturday evening was brilliant - a BBQ enjoyed by many and then a long evening at the bar for some. Thanks to Tony Child, Tracy Elwick and Terry Brown for organising a great evening.
Back down to the club on Sunday morning to see a great turnout from the younger teams - a great atmosphere and very, very well organised. The players looked like they were loving it and the clubhouse was busy yet again. Great stuff... So, the economy might be in a mess, the weather is getting colder by the day and I've no hairs left on my right arm from flipping burgers on the BBQ - but the club looks in rude health and everyone is showing great enthusiasm. Let's keep this momentum going and make this a season to remember......
One last thing, there are now a very small number of tickets available for the Sir Ian McGeechan dinner on Friday 24th Sept. This will be a great night with a true rugby ledgend - it's almost sold out, so e mail me NOW at rbmackerron@aol.com if you want tickets - first come, first served.
Have FUN
