Swans travelled to High Wycombe in their third contest in Southwest 1(East), and despite a hat-trick of tries from winger Charlie Rowberry went down again.

Swans started brightly, and from a penalty they gained ample ground, and after only four minutes a break by wing forward Daffyd Wright gave Swans a five point lead. Wycombe were not to be denied, a penalty put them in Swans 22 and from a ruck the ball went to hosts’ centre who levelled the scores. After 16 minutes Swans went behind as a break by the Wycombe right winger carried over the try line in the corner/(10 – 5) and five minutes later a penalty had Wycombe three more points ahead. However Swans responded as a fine three-quarters move, and a chip ahead had Charlie Rowberry outpacing the home defence to score in the corner. A further penalty goal by Wycombe had the half time score at 16 – 10 at the interval.

Swans came out in the second half with more aggression and within seven minutes of the restart a move down the wing had Charlie Rowberry going in for his second try. He converted the try himself, and then added a penalty to give Swans the lead at 16pts – 20. From thereon everything seemed to go awry for Swans, for in the next ten minutes Wycombe added three more tries and a penalty goal, basically as Swans failed to tackle the Wycombe three-quarters, to suddenly put Wycombe up by 38pts –20 pts up with 68 minutes gone. Swans at last summoned up some attacking part of their play, and fortunately with about a minute to play Charlie Rowberry forced his way over the line, to complete his hat – trick, and to at least give Swans a bonus point for their fourth try, but the hosts came out winners by 38pts – 25pts. 1st XV v Swanage & Wareham - Sat, 17 Sep 2011
